Designing your own home as an interior designer comes with its own unique perspective.

When you spend your career immersed in materials, cabinetry details, appliance performance, and the way a home functions day to day, you naturally become incredibly selective about the way your own home lives and operates. Years of industry knowledge sharpen your awareness of what truly elevates a space beyond just looking beautiful.

The Ruby Revival project is a personal home renovation for our very own Kim Bailey, CEO and Design Director of Design Lifestyles, and from the very beginning, the goal was to create a kitchen that balanced timeless design with exceptional functionality. Every selection needed to contribute both aesthetically and practically to the experience of the home.

For the Ruby Revival kitchen, Kim and her husband, Dan knew they wanted appliances that performed at a luxury level while also complementing the softer, more elegant tone of the space visually. Nothing overly harsh or industrial. Nothing that interrupted the warmth and intentional layering of the design. They wanted products that felt thoughtfully integrated into the architecture of the kitchen itself.

That desire ultimately led them to partner with Monogram Appliances.

For this kitchen, Kim envisioned something classic, elegant, and deeply timeless. A space that felt collected rather than overly curated. Refined without feeling formal. The kind of room that immediately wraps you in warmth the second you walk in.

With soft jade green countertops, airy cabinetry, and delicate touches of blue woven throughout the backsplash, the entire space carries that effortless charm reminiscent of a Nancy Meyers film. Light pours in, finishes feel softly layered, and every detail was chosen to create a kitchen that feels inviting, elevated, and lived in all at once.

But as every designer knows, a beautiful kitchen is only as successful as the elements that anchor it. And for Kim and Dan, that meant partnering with Monogram Appliances.

Why We Chose Monogram Appliances for the Ruby Revival Kitchen

When designing a luxury kitchen, appliances are never just appliances. They become part of the architecture of the room itself.

They wanted pieces that felt substantial and professional while still complementing the softer, more romantic tone of the home. Monogram struck that balance beautifully.

Their appliances bring a level of quality, craftsmanship and polish that instantly elevates a kitchen, but what they loved most was how seamlessly they integrated into the overall design. Every finish, silhouette, and detail felt intentional. Refined without competing for attention.

In many ways, the Monogram appliances became the jewelry of the kitchen. The finishing touch that made the entire room feel complete.

The Appliance Selections That Shaped the Space

The Panel-Ready Refrigerator

One of the most important decisions in this kitchen was choosing a panel-ready refrigerator.

Because the surrounding spaces within the home lean traditional and layered, they wanted the kitchen to feel visually cohesive rather than interrupted by large expanses of stainless steel. Integrating the refrigerator directly into the cabinetry allowed the architecture and materials of the kitchen to remain the focal point.

The result feels incredibly custom and tailored. Quiet luxury in appliance form.

The 36” Gas Rangetop

Every timeless kitchen needs a beautiful focal point, and the Monogram gas range top became exactly that.  This was Kim's favorite selection when appliance shopping.

Positioned beneath the custom hood, it grounds the entire room while still feeling elegant and approachable. Kim loved the professional performance it offers, but equally important was the visual impact. The polished details and substantial presence add just enough contrast against the softer tones layered throughout the kitchen.

She opted for the brass knobs to complement the cabinet hardware and bring an added layer of warmth to the space. Those smaller details matter tremendously in a kitchen like this. They help the appliances feel fully integrated into the overall design story rather than standing apart from it.

It feels elevated without leaning overly industrial, which was incredibly important to them.

The Custom Hood Insert

A kitchen hood can completely change the personality of a space.

Rather than using a standard exposed hood, they opted for a custom hood design with a Monogram insert so the ventilation could disappear seamlessly into the architecture of the cabinetry.

This allowed them to create a softer, more furniture-like moment above the range while still maintaining the high-performance functionality you want in a luxury kitchen.

It is one of those details that quietly transforms the entire room.

The French Door Wall Oven

The Monogram French door wall oven quickly became Dan's favorite selection in the kitchen.

They paired the French door upper oven with a traditional lower oven beneath it, creating one beautifully streamlined unit that feels both elevated and incredibly functional for everyday living.

Aesthetically, the French doors bring such a sophisticated presence to the space. They feel unexpected in the best way and instantly make the kitchen feel more custom and thoughtfully designed.

It became one of those features guests naturally gravitate toward the second they walk into the room.

The Microwave Drawer

Microwaves are necessary. Seeing them everywhere is not.

One of the easiest ways to elevate a kitchen design is thoughtfully concealing the everyday elements that tend to create visual clutter. The microwave drawer helped us do exactly that.

Integrated seamlessly into the lower cabinetry, it keeps the kitchen feeling clean, streamlined, and intentional while still being incredibly functional for daily life.

The Panel-Ready Dishwasher

Just like the refrigerator, the panel-ready dishwasher helped preserve the uninterrupted beauty of the cabinetry throughout the kitchen.

Especially in a softer, more classic kitchen like this one, integrated appliances make an enormous difference in the overall feel of the space. Nothing feels abrupt or disconnected. Everything works together harmoniously.

That level of visual quietness is often what makes a luxury kitchen feel truly luxurious.

The Final Outcome

The Ruby Revival kitchen feels exactly the way they hoped it would.

Timeless. Layered. Airy. Elegant.

It feels like a space meant to be lived in slowly. Morning coffee at the island. Music playing while dinner cooks on the range. Friends gathered around with a glass of wine long after the meal is over.

And while the finishes and materials helped tell that story, the Monogram appliances were what gave the kitchen its final level of polish and permanence.

They brought together beauty, functionality, and craftsmanship in a way that feels completely aligned with how we design homes at Design Lifestyles: spaces that are as livable as they are beautiful.

The Ruby Revival kitchen is proof that when thoughtful design and thoughtfully chosen appliances work together, the result is something that feels timeless long before trends ever enter the conversation.
