Embracing 2024 Trends: Vibrant Colors and Innovative Fabric Combinations

Jan 22, 2024

In our last blog post we explored the world of fabric selections and the plethora of options to choose from, it’s now time to consider what we are expecting to see trending in 2024 - the use of vibrant colors and intricate details.

Berries and blues, along with reddish berry shades transitioning into purples, are making a strong statement. Plum berry colors are also gaining popularity, adding a touch of elegance to any space. These colors are often paired together to create a visually striking combination.

Plaid, a classic pattern, is making a comeback in the fabric world. It adds a timeless charm to furniture pieces and can be incorporated into various design styles. The Kravet showroom is showcasing a range of berry colors that seamlessly transition into corals and reds. These colors are expected to make a strong impact in the coming year.

Additionally, fabrics such as mohair and velvet are set to take center stage. While they require high maintenance, they offer excellent performance for active families. These fabrics are being used in a variety of ways, including combining them with croc leather for a luxurious touch.

The options do not stop with colors and materials. When it comes to laying out fabric, designers are exploring different techniques. Two-tone designs that incorporate animal prints are becoming increasingly popular. Thibeaux is one brand that offers a wide range of options in this style. Floral chairs with dressmaker details, such as pleats down the back and fabric-covered buttons, are also in vogue. Coordinating checks at the bottom add an extra layer of visual interest.

Contrasting welt is another popular choice to accentuate curves. While linear looks have been prevalent for some time, we are now witnessing the resurgence of curves, particularly on table aprons.

Furniture is being upholstered in the same fabric but with different orientations. Some have vertical or horizontal patterns in the middle, while others feature a bias for the welt. The seat is upholstered at a 90-degree angle, creating a diagonal effect. This unique approach adds depth and dimension to the overall design.

Mohair green chairs with contrast welt and nailhead details are also gaining attention for their intriguing aesthetic. Contrasting welt is another popular choice to accentuate curves. In conclusion, the fabric selections for 2024 are all about bold colors, intricate details, and innovative combinations. From berries and blues to plums and reds, there is a wide range of hues to choose from. Fabrics like mohair and velvet offer both style and performance, making them ideal for active families. Whether it's through contrasting welt or unique fabric layouts, designers are finding creative ways to elevate their designs. So, get ready to embrace these exciting trends and make a statement with your fabric choices in the coming year.

So, you've traveled through the fabric universe!

You now understand that both natural and synthetic materials have their unique charms in interior design. Linen's durability is as enticing as polyester's practicality.

The world of blended fabrics has been demystified! Poly-cotton blends or rayon-polyester mixes can be your secret weapons to achieving that perfect balance between comfort and longevity.

And who could forget performance fabrics? These stain-resistant, water-repellent marvels are redefining furniture upholstery for 2024 fabric trends.

Weighing up factors like durability, maintenance needs, color choices, allergies and budget isn't a mystery anymore. The importance of seeking professional advice when needed has also been underlined.

Your journey doesn't stop here though…

"I had a wonderful experience working with Design Lifestyles, and I love how they have transformed my home! Kim and Lauren are extremely talented and really good at discerning and respecting a client’s likes, dislikes and personal style.

I love how they presented me with options.   I could choose furnishings and materials, without being overwhelmed with too many choices.  It was fun, and it felt good to participate in the process of creating a pretty, cozy home for my family. Their attention to detail is amazing.  Every color, fabric, pattern and accessory is coordinated and intentional, without being too “matchy,” if that makes sense. I also have to say, Kim has a calm, reassuring demeanor that really helps in the midst of a remodel.

Kim and Lauren are kind, talented ladies, and they are a joy to work with.  Stephanie and Kelly are lovely to work with as well! Thank you, Design Lifestyles team! I hope I get to work with you again on future projects!"

"We’ve hired Design Lifestyles for two rooms in our house now, and are very happy with both results. In each case, they were very receptive and responsive to our inputs and worked to be sure we got the design just right and to a place where we were comfortable with it. They also manage the procurement and install of furniture for one of our rooms and did an excellent job making that process easy and fun for us."
